Here's the report from stage five second-place Max Walscheid's Team Lidl-Trek:
Max Walscheid just missed the win at the final stage of Tour of Denmark with second place and Søren Kragh Andersen finished a strong week as 5th overall.
At the end of a turbulent week that was raced very aggressively by Lidl-Trek, Stage 5 concluded in Rødovre after 126 kilometers with a bunch sprint.
Jakob Söderqvist and Tim Torn Teutenberg prepared the sprint with their lead-out for Walscheid, and the 33-year-old powered to second place, beaten only by Rasmus Pedersen, who was racing for the Danish national team.

“I’m generally happy, but I have to admit it also hurts a bit to be beaten. The team did a great job today, especially in the final kilometer where Jakob and Tim’s lead-out was really awesome”, Max praised his teammates after the race.
"Beyond the great work they did, it was really fun to ride behind the guys and have a clear run to the line. That felt really good. Today was one of the first times I’ve sprinted this year, and to really go all in like that was cool.”
Søren Kragh Andersen finished in the main field and thereby held on to the fifth place overall that he had earned through attentive riding from Stage 1 onward. In particular, the Dane’s presence in the front groups on the opening day in Aalborg and on the rain-soaked Stage 3 to Vejle secured his high overall position.
Teutenberg had already delivered a top result on the opening stage by finishing fourth in Aalborg, where Kragh Andersen crossed the line in eighth. On Stage 2 in Skive, Walscheid finished sixth, and the following day in Vejle, Kragh Andersen came home fifth.
After a five-man breakaway stayed clear on Stage 4 to Faaborg, Teutenberg sprinted to eighth place, and on the final day Walscheid’s runner-up finish ensured that Lidl-Trek was in the mix at the front on all five stages.
In Max’s words:
"We had very, very good teamwork throughout the week, even if it unfortunately wasn't always rewarded 100 percent. But we showed a lot of positives, even though Tim, Søren and I were missing that little bit of luck from time to time when it came to the results. As far as our team performance was concerned, though, we really performed well. It was a good week, and I think all of the riders here are on the right track for the rest of the season."

Here's the report from second-place Pau Miquel's Team Bahrain Victorious:
Pau Miquel came close to victory at the Circuito de Getxo, finishing second after a strong team performance in the Basque one-day race.
Natnael Tesfatsion (Movistar Team) took victory in the 81st edition of the race, with Miquel finishing second and Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) completing the podium.
The 172.2 kilometre race started in the famous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao before heading to Getxo, where the riders completed six laps of the finishing circuit. An early breakaway built up a lead before being brought back as the race entered the closing laps. The repeated climbs gradually reduced the front group, and after several late attacks only a small group remained in contention for victory. Miquel was among those fighting for the win and crossed the line in second place.

Pau said after the race:
“I’m really happy with this second place, even if it wasn’t the win we came here for. That was our goal as a team, but everyone rode a perfect race and every teammate did exactly what they had to do. That gave me the chance to fight for the victory in the end. I especially want to thank Pello and Jakob, who did an incredible job to put me in a position to contest the sprint. Personally, I had really good sensations after all the work we’ve done at altitude in preparation for these races. Of course, I’m a bit disappointed not to have taken the win in Pello’s home race, but I think we can be satisfied with this result. We’ll keep working and fighting until that victory comes.”
Sports Director Enrico Gasparotto added:
“The goal today was to win with Pau. We knew the final climbs could split the race, and the team stayed around him all day and brought him back every time he needed it. In the end, we had a bit of luck on our side as well. Pello and Jakob were both really strong, but Jakob punctured with four kilometres to go after Pau had made it back to the front. UAE Team Emirates XRG and Lidl-Trek controlled the race for a long time, and despite a small crash for Max, everyone stayed committed to the plan. Pello did a great job as road captain on his home roads, and the team delivered exactly the race we wanted. It’s a shame to miss the win, but second place is still a strong result.”

Our team will race as T-Rex Quick-Step at next week’s Tour de Pologne.
After making a successful outing last year at the World Tour race, everyone’s favorite T-Rex returns for the edition taking place between 3-9 August. This means that our riders will once again compete in a special Castelli jersey featuring black and gold - the two colors of Soudal’s well-known adhesive - as the race travels from Gdynia to Wieliczka, over more than 1100 kilometers.
T-Rex Quick-Step, as the squad will be known next week in Poland, goes to the start of this 81st edition with Ayco Bastiaens, Steff Cras, British ITT Champion Ethan Hayter, Paul Magnier - who hit a memorable T-Rex pose as he powered to a stage victory here last year - Maximilian Schachmann, Dries Van Gestel, and neo-pro Jonathan Vervenne.

Two clear opportunities for the sprinters, one chance for the attackers, three uphill finishes (Karpacz, Kocierz, and Bukowina Tatrzanska) and a 12.4km individual time trial held over an undulating parcours will be the seven stages making up the route of the Tour de Pologne, where T-Rex Quick-Step has won a total of 18 stages at the previous participations.
“The first couple of days should normally be for the fast men, and Paul will have a strong supporting cast there to rely on as well as the experience and skills of Dries, his lead-out man. We hope to get a win with him in what will be his first stage race since the Giro d’Italia where he took three stages and the maglia ciclamino, but we also want to be in contention for a nice result in the general classification with Steff and Max”, said sports director Geert Van Bondt.
