The race:
The Tour of Guangxi is a stage race held in the Guangxi Zhuang region of China. The region is China's southernmost, bordering on Vietnam.
The race was first held in October of 2017. As of 2023, it is the final World Tour race of the season.
The Tour of Guangxi is the UCI's second Chinese World Tour race, the first was the short-lived Tour of Beijing, run from 2011 to 2014.
The stage profiles are generally flat or are medium mountain, favoring sprinters.
Europe's top teams come to the race and dominate it. In 2023 there was a Chinese National Team, whose best-placed rider, Yikui Niu, placed 95th, at 20min 2sec.
