The race:
The 1954 Paris-Roubaix was 246 km kilometers long and raced at an average speed of 35.59 km/hr
We don't know how many riders started the race, but there were 112 classified finishers. The names of several of the last finishers remain unknown.
A small group of favorites were together when, at the instigation of his director Antonin Magne, Ramond Impanis attacked 1,500 meters from the finish.
He crossed the line with a 100-meter lead. Impanis had accomplished the Paris-Nice/Tour of Flanders/Paris-Roubaix triple 20 years after Gaston Rebry had done the same.
Time splits after second place are nowhere to be found.
