Critérium International (HC), France
Winners, podium, distance, average speed
The Critérium International is currently a 2-day, 3-stage bicycle race held in late March. Originally promoted by Gaston Blénac and Paris-Soir it was originally called the Critérium National de la Route and was a single-day race. In 1963 it became a 3-stage race.
During the Second World War 2 editions were held, one in the German-occupied zone of France and one in the Vichy portion. In the results below they'll be labeled "Oc.Z." and "Vi.Z." for Occupied and Vichy.
It was open only to French riders until 1977. From 1978 to 1980 foreign riders on French teams could compete. Foreign riders on foreign teams were allowed from 1981 and the race was given its present name, Critérium International. The race currently consists of a time trial, rolling road stage and a mountain stage and since 2010, has been held on the island of Corsica
In November of 2016, race organizer ASO announced it would no longer put on the race, citing a smaller peloton caused by competing events occurring at the same time, such as Gent-Wevelgem, and the Volta a Catalunya.
