The race:
Route Adélie de Vitré is a single-day road race held in early spring around the commune of Vitré, a town in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in bike-mad Brittany in northwestern France.
The race's roots go back to 1976-1978 when it was run as an amateur race. After a 1979 hiatus, in 1980 it returned and became a professional race.
Between 1980 and 1995 it was a stage race called the Tour d'Amorique, though in 1995 it was named the Tour de Bretagne. In 1996 it took its current name.
It is currently (since 2018) run over two circuits, 6 times around a 21.1 km loop and 8 times over a smaller 8.9 km circuit, totalling 197.8 km
In 2005 it was given 1.1 status and made part of the UCI Europe Tour. It is also currently (2014) the third round of the Coupe de France race series.
