The race: Here is a machine-translation of the race report from winner Marc Brustenga's Equipo Kern Pharma.

Team Kern Pharma claimed its second victory of the season this afternoon at the Classic Velox Adélie de Vitré (France, UCI 1.1, April 3), courtesy of Marc Brustenga. The Catalan sprinter delivered a hard-fought sprint on the Rue de Brest to open his professional win account, providing a perfect finale to the team's trio of French classics.

It began in the rain—the Classic Velox Adélie de Vitré—where Team Kern Pharma started with a clear objective: to translate the strong form shown in recent races into a victory. From the very opening moments—with a four-rider breakaway up the road—the Navarrese squad remained highly vigilant at the front of the main peloton.

This race scenario persisted until the riders entered the final circuit, at which point the tension escalated considerably. As the laps went by, several attacks were launched in an attempt to avoid a bunch sprint, with Nil Gimeno, Mikel Retegi, and César Pérez all looking to capitalize on these moves. Brustenga himself, with three laps remaining, even managed to slip into a four-rider breakaway that ultimately failed to gain any significant ground.

The peloton remained tightly bunched as it crossed the finish line for the penultimate time; there, César Pérez—performing a truly commendable job—managed to close down a highly dangerous breakaway that had formed in the final kilometers. With the situation under control, it was Marc Brustenga’s turn to shine; he executed an excellent approach to the final 500 meters, launching a grueling sprint—during which he found himself boxed in—to cross the line in second place, pending the officials' final decision.

After a few minutes of uncertainty, the race officials announced a penalty against Gautherat (DAT) and awarded the victory to the Catalan sprinter, placing him ahead of Leitao (CJR) and Hardouin (VRR). It was a reward for resilience, consistency, and sacrifice for Marc Brustenga, who—after coming agonizingly close on several previous occasions—today claimed his first professional victory. "The team performed exceptionally well right from the start; whenever attacks occurred, we knew how to manage our efforts to keep the race under control. We executed a great approach, and in the sprint, I worked my way up through the field until I found myself boxed in," explains Marc Brustenga, the newly crowned winner of the Classic Velox Adélie de Vitré.

"This victory means a great deal to me; after a few years complicated by injuries, it serves as a reward for all the hard work I’ve put in. I want to dedicate this triumph to the people who stood by my side throughout this long journey, and I want to thank the team for the confidence they showed in me during one of the lowest points of my professional career," concludes the newly crowned winner of the Classic Velox Adélie de Vitré.
