The race:
The Gran Premio Industria & Artigiano di Larciano is a single-day bicycle race formerly held early in the season in the city of Larciano, Tuscany, Italy. Larciano is about 30 kilometers west of Florence
The first edition was held in 1967, when it was called the Circuito di Larciano and was about 120 km long. In 1977 it became the current race. The race edition numberings date from 1977.
The 1997 edition was the Italian Road Cycling Championship.
Since 2005 it has been part of the UCI Europe Tour.
Because of increasing costs and little interest from top-level teams and riders, the 2015 edition was cancelled. At that time the race was run in July.
In 2016 the race was re-launched with a place on the calender the day after the Strade Bianche and a few days before the start of the Tirreno-Adriatico stage race.
That change worked and the race is now an important part of the early European race calendar.
