The race: Here's the report from winner Sonny Colbrelli's Bahrain-Merida team.

Legnano (Italy), September 16th – With an impressive sprint Sonny Colbrelli wins the Coppa Bernocchi again, after the triumph he took last year, always with Bahrain-Merida Pro Cycling Team jersey.

A special victory seen that it was the 100th edition of this classical Italian race, part of the Trittico Lombardo series, with start and finish in Legnano, north of Milan. A race that suits to sprinters and Sonny Colbrelli was among the favourites. “I never could have won without the help of my teammates” comments the Italian rider “They have been fantastic. I had just to raise my arms to celebrate. Grega Bole and Giovanni Visconti lead me out perfectly. Wang did a good job too, working at the front of the peloton in the finale to bridge the gap to the four attackers. Happily we succeeded to catch them and I could sprint very well. I want to dedicate this win to my family, especially to Adelina that soon will give birth to our baby girl”.

Bahrain-Merida Pro Cycling Team – directed by Sports Director Alberto Volpi – did indeed a very good job today. They controlled the race when there were the early breakaway and following attempts of attack, both during the challenging 6 laps of the Valle Olona circuit (16.7 km with the GPM of Morazzone) and in the final city circuit to be repeated three times. “We faced the race with personality yesterday too, but we had less luck than today. Instead today we had good legs and luck as well” explains Volpi “The team worked very well, especially in the final circuit. Then with a guy like Sonny, a sprint win comes easily. I said to the boys this morning at the team meeting, that I wanted a squad with grinta and so it was”.
