Weather at the start/finish city of Guilherand-Granges at 2:30 PM, local time: (9C) 48F, cloudy, with the wind from the north at 24 km/hr (15 mph). There is a 5% chance of rain.

The race: Note, there was confusion at the finish as a leading trio just off the front followed a moto off the course. Winner Romain Grégoire stayed on the course and won.

Here's the report from third-place Lorenzo Fortunbato's XDS Astana Team.

XDS Astana Team rider Lorenzo Fortunato delivered a powerful attack and ultimately finished third in the French one-day race, Faun-Ardèche Classic.

Fortunato attacked on the penultimate climb of the day, Saint-Romain-de-Lerps, gaining a slight advantage over the chasers. Despite his best efforts, a few kilometers before the finish, the group of favorites caught up with the XDS Astana Team rider, setting up a sprint finish. However, the race finale turned chaotic as some riders missed the correct turn in the final kilometer.

Nevertheless, Lorenzo Fortunato managed to take third place, followed closely by two more XDS Astana Team riders, Clément Champoussin and Christian Scaroni, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

“I attacked on the penultimate climb, and it created a great situation for our team – I was in front, while Christian (Scaroni) and Clément (Champoussin) stayed in the group, saving their energy for the final. The last kilometers were tough due to the headwind, so I couldn’t maintain my advantage and got caught two kilometers before the finish. The finale was chaotic, but I still managed to take third place. Overall, it was a great day for us, we earned a lot of points for the team, and we will keep fighting”, – said Lorenzo Fortunato.
