Weather at the city of Castrovido, on the route, 60 km from the finish, at 2;10 PM, local time: 33C (92F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the west at 6 km/hr (4 mph). There is a 9% chance of rain.

The race: Here's the report from stage winner Giulio Ciccone's Team Lidl-Trek.

The final 138km stage of this year’s race included three categorised climbs on the approach to the mountaintop finale at Lagunas de Neila. One week on from claiming victory at Clasica San Sebastián, Cicco knew today’s last climb was very well suited to him. The days breakaway were reeled back in just before the early slopes and it was time for Cicco to shine. On one of the steepest sections with three kilometres to go, Ciccone and Del Toro of UAE Emirates XRG launched an attack from a reduced bunch, which included the race leader. The Italian drilled the pace with 800 metres to go to distance Del Toro and cross the finish line solo to take his third victory of the season.

On the start line before a really tough stage.

From Giulio..
"Today was the toughest stage and the one I wanted to win from the start. It wasn't an easy week because, with the crash on the first day and the heat, I felt a little uncomfortable during the first few stages. But today was a big goal for us; it was a great test, let's say. In the end, the goal was to win, and we did it.

"I was a little disappointed a few days ago, two days ago, when I didn't manage to win. Today, was a good day. I enjoy racing with such strong riders like Del Toro more because you always have a point of reference, so I always prefer having very strong opponents.

"Anyway, today I knew I had the advantage of not being in the general classification, so I could have a better chance for the stage, and I took advantage of the situation. I knew Del Toro had to go all out to win the general classification, and I took advantage of that. But with such a strong rider, it's always better not to wait for the sprint, so I tried to give it my all to get there first.

"This has definitely been excellent preparation for what's to come. Now, a few days of recovery, and then we'll move forward, motivated to do well."

Weather at the finish city of Regumiel de la Sierra at 2:15 PM, local time: 33C (92F), fair, with the wind from the south at 10 km/hr (6 mph). There is just a 1% chance of rain.

The race Jonas Hem Hvideberg (Uno-X Mobility) & Nairo Quintana (Movistar) did not start.

Here's the report from stage winner Damiano Caruso's Team Bahrain Victorious:

Bahrain Victorious returned to winning ways today as Damiano Caruso delivered an outstanding solo triumph in Regumiel de la Sierra on the penultimate stage of the Vuelta a Burgos.

On a relatively easy yet unpredictable stage (162.7 km from Doña Santos), the 37 year old — who recently extended his contract with the team for another year — was aggressive from the start. After 23 km of racing and multiple early attacks, a seven-man breakaway eventually went clear, with Caruso among the protagonists.

Stage four gets started.

The move quickly proved to be the day’s decisive one, as the escapees worked well together and built a steady advantage of around three minutes over the peloton, making the chase increasingly unlikely. The finale offered more selective terrain, with a series of explosive climbs testing the legs before the finish.

The key moment came on the Alto del Cargadero, where Caruso first attacked, taking Ben Zwiehoff (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) with him. Then, with 16 km to go, he launched a second, pivotal acceleration to go clear on his own. From there, the Italian was unstoppable, maintaining his gap all the way to the line to take his eighth career victory — and his first in more than three years, since the Giro di Sicilia in 2022.

Nearly a minute and a half later, Rui Costa (EF Education–EasyPost) and Rui Oliveira (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) completed the podium in second and third.

Reflecting on his win, an emotional Caruso said:
“It was an unexpected move, dictated more by pride and motivation than by my legs, because I was coming off a difficult day yesterday when I couldn’t perform as I wanted. Today, I wanted to give meaning to all the sacrifices and hard work done, and to keep building towards La Vuelta. The breakaway was hard-fought from the very beginning — nothing was given as a gift — and the group included strong riders. To be able to make the difference like that in the final made me realise that Damiano is still here for himself and for the team. After my fifth place at this year’s Giro d’Italia, this is another satisfaction I can give myself this season.”

Sports Director Neil Stephens praised his leader and saw the performance as an important boost ahead of the season’s final Grand Tour:

“Today was a true test of resilience and fighting spirit. Damiano passed the test with flying colours. After yesterday’s setback, it was important to send a signal. We needed to understand why he didn’t have good legs on the climbs yesterday, as we came here with GC ambitions with him. Seeing him bounce back like this is excellent for morale, and exactly what he needed. It also makes us more confident ahead of La Vuelta — it’s a confirmation that we are on the right track, and all the hard work done so far can pay off with great results.”

The Vuelta a Burgos concludes with the ‘Queen Stage’ tomorrow, as riders cover 138.3 km from Quintana del Pidio to Lagunas de Neila, finishing atop a demanding Special Category ascent. Bahrain Victorious will look to improve our GC standing with best-placed overall rider Torstein Træen, currently 11th at 57 seconds.

The race: Second-place Giulio Ciccone's Team Lidl-Trek posted this short report:

After crashing in the final meters of Stage 1, Cicco has bounced back today in Burgos. The 184km stage that concluded in Valpuesta, saw Cicco go clear with a select group of 4 others on the final climb, the Puerto de Orduña 20km from the finish and held off a chasing group all the way to the line to battle for victory between themselves. Bisiaux of Decathlon AG2R jumped clear in the last km to take the win while Ciccone took the sprint just behind in second.

Weather at the finish city of Buniel at 2:15 PM, local time: 28C (82F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the north-northeast at 10 km/hr (6 mph). No rain is forecast.

The race: Here's the report from stage winner Matteo Moschetti's Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team:

Matteo Moschetti sprinted to a sensational victory on Stage 2 of the Vuelta a Burgos, powering across the line in Buniel after a fast-paced 161-kilometre stage from Cilleruelo de Abajo. After a tense wait for the photo finish, it was confirmed: victory number five this season for the Italian sprinter—and the twelfth for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team in 2025.

From the start, Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team kept the race under control. With Damien Howson, David González, Nick Zukowsky, Nicoló Parisini, Xabier Mikel Azparren, and Fabio Christen all riding in support of Moschetti, the plan was to deliver Matteo to the final corner in the best possible position.

Four riders went up the road early and gained a maximum lead of four minutes. It was David González and Xabier Mikel Azparren who took responsibility in the second half of the race to bring the breakaway back. The break was caught with just under eight kilometers to go, and the team immediately regrouped.

The final 5km were fast and technical, but the team executed their sprint plan to perfection, launching Moschetti into prime position for the final push to the line.

“It was a nice stage,” Matteo Moschetti reflected after the finish. “From the second half of the race, we controlled the break with David and Xabier. They did a great job to catch the break. The final 5km were pretty fast, and the boys did an amazing job. It was super important to be well placed in the final corner, and they did a perfect lead-out. Nick and Parisini did the last push, and then I launched. It was super fast—I thought I went too early, but in the end, it was a photo finish. I threw the bike on the line, and I won.”

“After a long training camp, I’m super happy to win. That was my goal this week. I must say, the team did an amazing job, and I couldn’t win without them.” This marks Matteo’s fifth victory in 2025 and continues a strong summer run for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. The win also solidifies his form as we continue our preparation toward bigger objectives in the second half of the season.

Weather at the finish city of Burgos at 2:40 PM, local time: 26C (78F), sunny, with the wind from the northeast at 31 km/hr (19 mph). No rain is forecast.

The race: Here's the report from stage winner Roger Adrià's Team Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe.

Roger Adrià has won the opening stage of the Vuelta a Burgos with a 400 metre uphill sprint, taking the third victory of his professional career.
The 205-kilometre stage 1 of the tour ended in a hill finish with a six per cent gradient in the eponymous town, which started just after the Devil's Lap. The last breakaway rider was caught just in time for the final sprint. Halfway up the climb, Roger rode into the front positions and then launched his attack from the slipstream.

The 2025 Vuelta a Burgos gets started.

A year ago, the 27-year-old Catalan from Barcelona finished second in a similar finale. This time he was able to claim victory ahead of Jordan Labrosse, which - including time bonuses - means he now also leads the overall classification of the tour by four seconds. In addition to the purple jersey that he is entitled to, Roger is also the first leader in the points classification.

Roger Adrià: "It was quite windy all day and therefore tense in the peloton. But we were always able to position ourselves well, the team did a really good job and delivered me perfectly on the final climb. I knew the last 400 metres well and then decided to go for the long sprint. It was almost a bit too early, but I was able to pull it off. I'm very happy to have won here. The Vuelta a Burgos always has a very high level as preparation for the Vuelta Espana."

The peloton rides through the stunning Burgos Province countryside.

DS Patxi Vila: "Our focus was on this stage. We knew it from previous editions and knew that it suits Roger well. Our aim was to deliver him as well as possible on the last ramp. That worked out really well. We knew that an early attack would be a good way to take the win here. Roger then finished in the best possible way."

In addition to Roger Adrià, Giovanni Aleotti, Nico Denz, Emil Herzog, Jai Hindley, Giulio Pellizzari and Ben Zwiehoff are also in the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe squad for the Vuelta a Burgos.
