Weather at the start/finish city of Pescara at 2:00 PM, local time: 23C (73F), fair, with the wind from the northeast at 13 km/hr (8 mph). No rain is forecast.

The race: Here is a machine-translation of the report from winner Orluis Aular's Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA.

Caja Rural-Seguros RGA's Italian journey ended on Sunday in the best possible way, with a hard-fought victory for Orluis Aular in the Trofeo Matteotti after winning the sprint in a small group. The Venezuelan finished off the great work of his teammates to thus add his fifth victory of the season.

The twelve laps of the circuit in Pescara promised a very lively race, with the climb to Scorrano as the hot spot. From the start of the race there were several attacks, with Julen Arriolabengoa involved in one of them before the strength of the peloton and the high pace aborted his attempt.

Already on the last lap the sprint seemed inevitable and, perfectly escorted by Thomas Silva, Orluis was able to get the best position to launch the sprint and reach the finish line raising his arms.

Orluis Aular: "I am very happy to achieve this victory here in Italy, in the Trofeo Matteotti. The team has been phenomenal, all the tactics that our director Rubén had suggested to us were fulfilled. The intention was to always have a rider in front to avoid working behind, it is a very hard race and that is how it has been from the beginning. In the end I was there in the decisive part with Thomas Silva, who has done a great job for me in the final kilometres, and the truth is that I am very happy to achieve this victory, both for me and for the team."

“I am very grateful to the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team for the confidence they have given me during these five years that I have been here, very happy with everyone, both my teammates and the staff. I think we have had a great race as a team and that is why we have managed to achieve the victory, which is very nice in this final stretch of the season.”
