The race:

Weather at start/finish city of Denain at 12:45 PM, local time: 13C (56F), fair, with the wind from the south at 26 km/hr (16 mph). No rain is forecast.

The race: Here's the report from winner Juan Sebastian Molano's UAE Team Emirates.

Sebastian Molano took his second victory of the season with an impressive sprint win from a five man breakaway at the GP de Denain in France.

The Colombian makes history by becoming the first ever Colombian winner in the 64 editions of the race.

Molano slipped away in a group with -20km to go alongside his teammate Mikkel Bjerg who put in a demonstration of teammwork to push the group forward until the line.

Almost an hour into the race, a break has a gap of about four minutes. You can see the wind is forcing the riders to echelon. The riders in the break: Maël Guegan, Lucas De Meester, Gilles De Wilde, Maxime Jarnet, Benjamin Perry, Louis Barre, Paul Lapeira, Théo Delacroix

Molano was the fastest man of the group and was able to power past his rivals despite second place Van Dijk (Jumbo-Visma)not having taken a turn on the front.

Molano: “I’m very happy, I had great legs today. The team worked perfectly to put me in the right position especially Mikkel Bjerg who sacrificed himself for the team. This victory is for all my teammates, all the staff, my family. I’m so thankful to everybody. Since UAE Tour I’ve been feeling good and want to make the most of this run of form.”

The team will be in action again tomorrow at the Bredene Koksijde Classic (191.6km).
