Weather at the start/finish city of Marseille at 2:35 PM, local time: 13C (55F), sunny, with the wind from the west-northwest at 16 km/hr (10 mph). There is just a 1% chance of rain.

The Race: Here's the report from second-place Steffen De Schuyteneer's Team Lotto-Intermarché.

Steffen De Schuyteneer delivered a strong performance at today’s GP La Marseillaise, sprinting to an impressive second place after an excellent team effort throughout the race. “I am really happy to get that first podium for the team”, he says.

From the opening kilometers, the team rode attentively over the undulating course around Marseille. As the kilometers ticked down, the focus shifted fully to the sprint, with the team executing a powerful and well-timed lead-out to position Steffen perfectly for the final sprint to the line.

In the sprint, Steffen showed strong speed and confidence, securing second place behind Bryan Coquard (Team Cofidis). While victory narrowly slipped away, the result underlined both Steffen’s form and the team’s cohesion so early in the season.

After the finish, Steffen reflected positively on the performance: “We started this race of course with the aim to win. But I am also really happy with this second place. It’s nice to start the season well for the team. It’s also just a really nice race, I really like coming here since it’s a bit hilly, has a bit of ups and downs so I am definitely happy with the result.”

With this podium result at one of the season’s traditional openers, Steffen can look ahead with confidence to the upcoming races.
