The Muscat Classic is held the day before the start of the Tour of Oman. Both races are run by ASO, the owners and organizers of the Tour de France.

In line with the indisputable success of the Tour of Oman, a new event is born in 2023, the Muscat Classic, a one-day race set to bring more honours for the champions and more excitement for the fans. On the eve of the 12th edition of the well established stage race, the peloton will chase extra accolades and coveted prizes on a demanding terrain already explored in recent years.

Peter Sagan, Fabian Cancellara, Alexey Lutsenko… Not only is the list of riders who have already claimed success in Al Bustan star-studded, it also gives enticing insight into the type of battles to expect with the first edition of the Muscat Classic - the punchiest contenders in the bunch will give it their all to get rid of the fastest men and deliver a thrilling finale!

The intensity shall not drop down with the start of the Tour of Oman on the very next day. Fans have become familiar with the spectacular contrasts of the Sultanate, from shimmering coasts to verdant heights overlooking the desert. Champions from all around the world now have a tight grasp on the varied challenges of this unique terrain. But Oman can always surprise everyone.

Designed over five days, this year’s course is packed with climbing. Riders will return to Qurayyat and discover new climbs in the coastal area of Yitti and up the ascent of Jabal Haat. The road will rise until the very last moment and the winner of the Tour of Oman 2023 will be crowned after a final battle on the slopes of Jabal Al Akhdhar, the iconic ‘Green Mountain’. Thrilling racing and exceptional views are in sight.
