Aubin Sparfel: “I’m very happy. The Grand Prix de Wallonie is a prestigious race. As soon as I found out this race would be on my calendar, I was determined to do well there. The team was incredible today, and I want to thank all my teammates for their hard work. Paul Lapeira’s planned attack in the final stretch put me in the perfect position for the sprint, since I was able to stay on the wheels of our opponents and launch my effort from the slipstream. Romain Grégoire was really strong, but I managed to pass him in the final meters—it came down to mental toughness. Winning is always difficult and requires confidence. I believed in my abilities and felt really good. The conditions were perfect, and I’m very happy to have won.”

At age 20, while still riding for the DECATHLON CMA CGM Continental Team, Aubin Sparfel claimed his second professional victory with the WorldTour team at the Lotto GP de Wallonie. He had won his first race in 2025, at the Tour du Finistère. On September 25, he will attempt to become the U23 road race world champion at the UCI World Championships in Montreal, Canada.
