The race: Here's the report from second-place Tobias Foss' Team Jumbo-Visma.
Tobias Foss has just missed out on winning his first race in the rainbow jersey. The brand-new time trial world champion fell just two seconds short of keeping Stefan Küng from winning the Chrono des Nations.
Foss got off to a strong start in the 45-kilometre time trial. The Norwegian was six seconds quicker than Küng at the first intermediate point, and he made up four seconds of the difference at the second. Foss and Küng made it an exciting battle, but the Swiss came out on top.
"It was a nice fight between Stefan and me. Unfortunately, I lost only by two seconds, but I can be satisfied with this”, Foss said. "After the Tour of Lombardy, I was sick, so I didn't have the best legs today. Nevertheless, I gave everything, and I'm happy I could perform well in the time trial."
Riding in the rainbow jersey for the first time gave Foss a special feeling. "The fact that I get to ride in this jersey is still surreal. Normally I ride my races in yellow-black, and now my jersey looked completely different. It wasn't a very memorable time trial, but I still really enjoyed it. It's now time to take a vacation."
With the Chrono des Nations, Team Jumbo-Visma's successful road season ends. The Dutch World Tour team achieved 48 wins and concluded the season as the number one in the UCI team rankings.
