The Tour of Qatar is currently (2012) a 6-stage race held in early February. The stages, being run in Qatar, are flat and favor sprinters. The race attracts a mix of top-tier continental teams. The race is organized by ASO which also runs the Tour de France. It was elevated to 2.1 status in 2005.
