Weather at the start/finish city of Leuven at 2:50 PM, local time: 21C (69F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the north at 11 km/hr (7 mph). No rain is forecast.

The race: Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Intermarché) did not start. His health worsened overnight and he developed bronchitis. Early in the stage Maikel Zijlaard (Tudor Pro Cycling) abandoned.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike wrapped up the Renewi Tour on a positive note. In the final stage, Filippo Fiorelli sprinted to fourth place, securing tenth overall in the general classification. Pietro Mattio capped off a strong week by winning the youth classification.

On the final day of the Belgian stage race, the riders faced several local laps in and around Leuven. Team Visma | Lease a Bike had set its sights on a top-10 finish for Fiorelli and keeping the orange jersey with Mattio. Both goals were achieved. Fiorelli sprinted to fourth place on the streets of Leuven, earning tenth place in the final overall standings. Mattio also successfully defended the orange youth jersey.

"I think we can be very happy with the results we achieved here", sports director Marc Reef begins. "We faced quite a few setbacks throughout the week, with several riders forced to abandon after crashes. Nevertheless, we kept our spirits high and continued to fight. With several top-10 finishes, tenth place overall, and the win in the youth classification, we can look back on a successful week."

Mattio agrees with Reef’s sentiments. "It feels great to win my first youth classification in a WorldTour race. It wasn’t a goal of mine at the start, but when I found out on the third day that I had the orange jersey, I decided to go for it. Today’s stage was quite challenging with all the climbs, but in the end it came down to a bunch sprint, and I was able to safely defend the jersey. Despite the bad luck we had this week, we can finish the Renewi Tour on a positive note."

Weather at the finish city of Bilzen-Hoeselt at 2:40 PM, local time: 19C (66F), showers in the vicinity, with the wind from the west-northwest at 13 km/hr (8 mph). There is a 32% chance of isolated thunderstorms.

The race: Not starting: Pier-André Coté (NSN Cycling Team) & Huub Artz (Lotto-Intermarché).

Here's the race report from third-place Alessandro Borgo's Team Bahrain Victorious:

Alessandro Borgo sprinted to an impressive third place on stage four of the Renewi Tour, securing a superb result against some of the fastest finishers in the peloton.

The 187-kilometre stage started in Riemst and finished in Bilzen-Hoeselt, with the day expected to come down to a bunch sprint. The breakaway was kept under control throughout the stage, as the teams targeting the sprint managed the gap and ensured the race came back together ahead of the finale.

The closing kilometres proved more selective, with a late climb offering an opportunity for attacks. Borgo, who is not a pure sprinter but possesses a fast finish, showed his strength by following an acceleration from Arnaud De Lie (Lotto) and Florian Vermeersch (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) with around seven kilometres remaining.

After the move was brought back, Matej Mohorič guided the young Italian through the final kilometres and into an excellent position for the sprint. Borgo launched with around 200 metres remaining and held on for an impressive third place, finishing behind two of the strongest sprinters in the race.

The podium is another significant result for Borgo as he continues to demonstrate his versatility and ability to compete for results at WorldTour level.
Alessandro Borgo:

“It was a hard finale. De Lie and Vermeersch tried to attack on the last climb with around seven kilometres to go. I felt I had good legs, so I followed them, but then we stopped and the group came back.

“In the final kilometres, Matej put me in a great position behind Unibet, who did a good lead-out for Groenewegen. I started my sprint with around 200 metres to go and got closed in a little, but I was still able to produce a good sprint. I’m sharing the podium with two really strong guys, so I’m really happy.”

Jenno Berckmoes wins the stage and becomes the new GC leader.

Weather at the finish city of Geraardsbergen at 2:45 PM, local time: 19C (66F), showers in the vicinity, with the wind from the north-northwest at 11 km/hr (7 mph). The rain is forecast to continue through 5:00 PM.

The race: Not starting: Taco Van Der Hoorn (Lotto-Intermarché), Simone Consonni (Lidl-Trek), & Kasper Asgreen (EF Education-EasyPost). Early in the race Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) & Filip Maciejuk (Movistar) abandoned.

Later on Haimar Etxeberria (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe), Albert Torres (Movistar) & Sam Welsford (Netcompany INEOS) also quit. In the end, a total of 20 riders either did not start or failed to finish.

Riders quit the brutal third stage primarily due to the severe physical toll of the massive, chaotic multi-rider pileup in Stage 2 combined with the punishing, Tour of Flanders-style terrain of Stage 3 featuring steep cobbles and iconic climbs like the Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg.

Here’s the report from stage winner & new GC leader Jenno Berckmoes’ Team Lotto-Intermarché:

Jenno Berckmoes won the third stage of the Renewi Tour in Geraardsbergen. The Belgian beat Alec Segaert after a thrilling finale and powered to victory on the slopes of the Muur van Geraardsbergen. Arnaud De Lie finished fourth. Thanks to his victory, Berckmoes also takes over the leader’s jersey. “This is the biggest victory of my career.”

The third stage of the Renewi Tour took the peloton over a tough course, with the Muur van Geraardsbergen as one of the key moments. Lotto-Intermarché entered the finale with several cards to play and saw both Jenno Berckmoes and Arnaud De Lie competing at the front. “I had actually agreed with Arnaud that we would go full gas on the final climb. We are both strong enough to carry the race at those moments.”

A crash disrupted those plans, however, preventing De Lie from making the connection with the front of the race. After a powerful attack, Berckmoes then found himself up the road with Alec Segaert. The two worked well together, but Berckmoes knew he could not underestimate his compatriot. “I was happy to have Alec as a companion, but honestly, I was a bit afraid of him. I know how strong he is and the turns he took were incredibly strong.”

In the finale, Berckmoes tried to make the difference on the climb of the Vesten. Sitting in Segaert’s wheel, he launched his decisive acceleration before the cobbles. “I felt that he didn’t have as much left in the tank anymore. I was in his wheel and went full gas at the bottom, a bit of a surprise, I think. When I looked back, I immediately had a gap. Then I knew: full gas to the finish.”

Berckmoes managed to hold on and claimed a particularly special victory in Geraardsbergen. “I had to dig very deep, but I’m very happy that I managed to finish it off. It’s a place I really like coming back to. I’ve already won here in another race and it’s almost a home race, just fifteen minutes from home. It’s the biggest victory of my career.”

With the victory, Berckmoes also takes over the leader’s jersey. The Belgian knows that the battle for the overall classification is far from over. “There are still two very difficult days to come. I remember it from last year with Arnaud. We had to dig very deep in the final days to win the classification, so the overall victory is certainly not secured yet. We will have to fight very hard for it.”

Berckmoes leads Jasper Philipsen by six seconds in the overall classification. “It will still be very close until Leuven. But that maybe makes it even more exciting for the fans. In the Baloise Belgium Tour, Jasper won ahead of me. Now I hope I can come out on top.”

To complete the successful day, Lionel Taminiaux retains the lead in the combativity classification.

Weather at the finish city of Ardooie at 2:35 PM, local time: 21C (69F), showers in the vicinity, with the wind from the southwest at 23 km/hr (14 mph). The rain is forecast to end about 3:15 PM.

The race: Oliver Naesen (Decathlon CMA CGM), Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) & Mattia Agostinacchio (EF EDucation-EasyPost) did not start.

There was a large crash early in the stage. The race was neutralized for a while so that the organizers could do safety checks, give medical attention where needed and realign the race convoy.

Here's the report from Tim Merlier's Team Soudal Quick-Step:

Stage two of the Renewi Tour was the flattest stage of the whole race, over a 173.9km course starting in Blankenberge and concluding in Ardooie. There, the riders had to cover five laps of a local circuit where the fight for position ramped up with each kilometer, which made for another nervous finale after the one of Wednesday.

Before that, there were echelons attempts from several teams, but Soudal Quick-Step together with some of the other squads who were interested in a bunch sprint, made sure of keeping things together.

Despite a late mechanical, Bert Van Lerberghe quickly rejoined the peloton and guided Tim Merlier through the field in the last kilometer of the race, but just as this year’s Tour de France triple stage winner was preparing to start his effort, he was boxed in and couldn’t fight for victory in Ardooie, coming home in tenth.

Weather at the start/finish city of Diest at 2:40 PM, local time: 19C (67F), rain, with the wind from the west at 8 km/hr (5 mph). The rain is forecast to continue through 7:00 PM.

The race: Madis Mihkels (EF Education-EasyPost) did not start and early in the stage Jelte Krijnsen (Jayco AlUla) abandoned.

In a nail-biting photo finish, it was Jonathan Milan who came out victorious after a thrilling bunch sprint finish on the opening stage of Renewi Tour.

The Renewi Tour often attracts a strong sprint field, but the 2026 edition might just have the strongest sprint line-up of any stage race all year. Dubbed the sprint world championships ahead of the start by Lidl-Trek DS Adriano Baffi, the race lived up to the hype with the opening stage producing a star-studded top-10, with Jonathan Milan on top.

The opening stage started and finished in the town of Diest, and shortly after the race rolled out, the rain began. At first a welcome relief after the dry European summer, it didn’t take long until the peloton was soaked through and wishing for an end to the deluge – which never came.

The race lit up on the final ascent of the Grasbos climb, and as the peloton scrambled to regroup it looked like the early five-man breakaway held the advantage. Lidl-Trek sent riders to the front to reel in the dangerous group, sacrificing a fresh leadout train to ensure the chance to sprint. The Italian champ handled himself well moving into the final few hundred meters, emerging from the slipstream and stomping on the pedals in trademark fashion. A fast challenge came from Olav Kooij, but Jonny was able to hold him off and snatch the win by w husker on the bike throw.

Jonathan Milan's reaction from the Finish Line:
"I was not sure about the sprint until the last second. I started with 200m to go and then when I was there I just said “okay, try to hold it”, but Kooij was coming up super fast. Immediately after the finish line, he was a bit in front of me so I was still unsure about the result, but I am really happy about this victory. It was tough conditions out there but it was also a tough race so a big thanks needs to go to my teammates, they supported me so well. It wasn't easy to stick together, to keep our focus all day and to keep fighting but we made it. I am really happy with how we have started this race.

"It was not easy to catch the breakaway. We always kept them there, maximum 2'00" - 2’20” and we knew it would be tough to chase them back and we did it just in the last kilometers. Everyone did an amazing job. The other sprinters here are super strong riders, I really like to compete against them, they always bring out the best of me, and also today you saw it was really close with Olav. He is a super strong rider and we will see what happens tomorrow. We will try again, of course, but first we enjoy this victory."
