Weather at the finish city of Morteau at2:55 PM, local time: 10C (50F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the southeast at 11 km/hr (7 mph). There is a 35% chance of rain.

The race: Here's a machine-translation of the report from third-place Ivan Cobo's Equipo Kern Pharma.

The Kern Pharma Team concluded their week of classics in outstanding fashion with Iván Cobo's third place finish this Sunday at the Tour du Doubs.

The Cantabrian cyclist excelled at the Barboux climb, 19 kilometers from the finish, where he took the lead on the double-digit slopes to form the seven-rider split that took the race. Earlier, the Kern Pharma Team's group effort had been highlighted by their positioning at the La Roche du Pretre climb, including a brave counterattack by Pablo Carrascosa.

The leading group held on in the final kilometers to maintain their advantage over the reduced peloton, and, once in Morteau, Cobo sprinted strongly to finish in third place, very close to the winner Vercher (TEN). Behind him, a solid Ibon Ruiz (23rd) crossed the finish line among the chasing pack.

“Our plan almost worked out perfectly. We already tried to push harder on the climbs and move Carrascosa to force others to take on the responsibility. Cobo was our clear asset; after a good positioning, we knew he could be with the best on that tough climb, and he showed a fantastic level. It's a great feeling after the great work of the entire team over these three days,” emphasized Mikel Ezkieta, sports director of the Kern Pharma Team in France.
