On Sunday, February 8, Rohan Dennis proved he is an extraordinary rider.

Paris–Roubaix: The Inside Story

At the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen, Switzerland, BMC rider Rohan Dennis shattered the existing World Hour Record. He rode 52.491 kilometers, breaking Matthias Brändle's existing record of 51.852 kilometers (set October 30, 2014) by 639 meters.

Dennis used a big 'ol 56 ring coupled with a 14-tooth rear cog, making a giant 108-inch gear (that would be 2.743 meters in the civilized world).

Dennis equaled Brändle's record with a minute and a half to go.

"I feel pretty tired, but really proud, " said the Australian BMC rider. I would think so, on both counts.

In January, Dennis won the Santos Tour Down Under.

2012 Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins plans to attack the World Hour record in June.
