Cadel Evans to Retire February, 2015
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cadel Evans, will retire in February, 2015 after riding in Australia's Tour Down Under and the Great Ocean Race. He will then perhaps work as an ambassador for his current sponsor, BMC. Evans, 37 years old, will compete on the Australian team at the World Championships at Ponferrada, Spain later this month.
Though Evans started as a mountain biker, in 2000 he switched to road racing, and has had a sensational career.
What follows is a selection of his most notable accomplishments. It should be remembered that his two Tour de France second places were very close calls. In 2007 Alberto Contador beat Evans by only 23 seconds and in 2008 Carlos Sastre's margin over Evans was only 58 seconds. Evans did win the Tour in 2011.
